It’s true, I can predict your future. No, I’m not a psychic or a mystic, and I don’t have a crystal ball or anything like that. But I can tell you, with absolute certainty, what the next five years of your life will look like by only asking you two questions.
1. What did the past five years of your life look like?
2. Would you please let me read your written description of your future self?
Question number one is easy. Anyone can tell me what their past five years were like. However, the second question stumps nearly everyone I ask. It stumps them because they don’t have a written description of themselves five years from now, 3 years from now or even a year from now. And herein lies the problem.
If You Don’t Have A Map, How Do You Ever Expect To Get There?
Most people run around programmed to respond to whatever should come up. Sure, they have 9-5 jobs, but for the most part their lives are rote and void of meaning or passion. They won’t think past the
Many of them are great at what they do, but they are working dead end jobs with minimal chance of advancing in their career, let alone build the life they want. They simply fall in line, do a great job 9-5 then go home and spend time with whomever until it’s time to go back to work the next day. They’ll tip toe safely through life all the way to their graves.
What’s really sad is those same people want more. They have dreams and aspirations, wants and desires. But they never act on them because they have never been taught how. They just keep living the same year over and over again, Groundhog Day style. And before they know it, 20 years and two marriages have passed they’re left scratching their heads wondering what happened.
Here’s what happened. NOTHING. Nothing happened. Nothing happened because their thoughts never changed. Therefore, their lives never changed. Things don’t change until your thoughts change.
If you want to have a better life, think it into existence, because thinking makes it so.
About the topic of thinking, Wallace Wattles in his book The Science of Getting Rich, wrote the following:
“There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe. A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imaged by the thought. Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.”
In other words…
Thoughts Become Things
There are people who look at the above statement and laugh. And it’s my belief that since you’ve come this far, that doesn’t describe you. But a word of caution here. Just because thoughts become things, does not mean you can sit on your couch and eat chips and “think” things will fall in your lap. They won’t. Work is involved. But not dreadful work that you’ll despise. That would be working against the law of attraction. The work you’ll be doing is the work you were created for, not the work you were told to do.
Let me explain.
When you write out where you see yourself in five years, you’re not going to write down something you don’t enjoy. You’re writing a future for yourself that you want. A future that’ll make (and others) happy. After you write the description of your future self, your subconscious will start moving towards your future self.
You’ll begin to read different book (and blogs), you’ll start gaining specialized knowledge and your eyes will be open to opportunities that have been around all along, but you were unaware of them. New careers and entrepreneurial endeavors will begin to unfold before your very eyes. Then, sure enough, every day, week, month and year, you’re moving closer to the self you wrote down and created.
It works the same way as planning your vacation. As of this writing, my family and I have been to Walt Disney World six times. Every vacation is different. However, they are all planned well in advance. We set the intention, pick a date, put it on a payment schedule, then take action to meet the goal. You probably do the same with your vacations as well. Your vacations come true don’t they? Well, your future YOU will come true as well.
The Rest Is Up To You
Yes, it’s true I can predict your future. Because things don’t change until your thoughts change. But like Doc said in Back to the Future III, “Your future isn’t written yet. Nobody’s is…” Your future is 100% up to you. You decide who you’re going to be. You decide where you’re going to live. You decide who your spouse will be. You decide what career you’ll enjoy. And YOU decide whether or not you’ll be happy person living a life of abundance.
In closing, I’d like to leave you with a poem written by James Allen:
“Mind is the Master power that moulds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:—
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:
Environment is but his looking-glass.”
So use your mind to create a thousand joys and whatever you will. You have greatness in you. It’s time to unleash it.
P.S. Things don’t change until your thoughts change. Change your thoughts…change your life. Cheers!
