There are 13 steps to manifesting anything you want in life. Do you know what they are? Well, in my last blog post we talked about DESIRE being the starting point of all achievement. Today, we’re going to talk about FAITH.
FAITH is the second step towards manifesting anything you want in life. It doesn’t matter if it’s money, health, love, or material things. Without FAITH, good luck manifesting anything. But FAITH is a funny thing. And it’s hard to define or describe.
Hill talks about FAITH in his book Think and Grow Rich. He says that describing FAITH to someone would be like trying to describe the color red to a blind person. It would be pretty much impossible. So how are you to have FAITH if you cannot even describe it?
If you’ve ever gone to church, you’ve undoubtedly heard people talk about FAITH. I’ve heard many preachers preach about having FAITH to move a mountain. But I’ve never heard anyone preach a sermon or teach HOW to acquire FAITH.
Well, the good news is, I’m going to spell out exactly HOW to develop FAITH in this post.
HOW TO DEVELOP FAITH
According to Hill, FAITH is a state of mind which may be created by affirmations or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of auto-suggestion.
It’s brilliant when you think about it. But it’s also incredibly simple. And I believe that’s why it’s often overlooked. People expect a difficult or hard process to acquire FAITH. But there isn’t one. You simply tell yourself something over and over again and your subconscious mind believes it and takes appropriate action.
For example: Let’s try an experiment. Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you’re no good, you’re broke and always will be broke and that people don’t like you. Follow this experiment for 7 consecutive days, then report back to me and tell me the results.
No? No takers on that one? Well, I don’t blame you. You see, everyone knows that if you talk bad about yourself you end up feeling bad and getting bad results. Yet, they fail to realize the inverse is also true.
If you talk good about yourself you’ll end up feeling good, thus yielding good results. Here’s how to begin.
Step One: Write out several affirmations.
(Now, as a side note…don’t roll your eyes when you see the word affirmations. You’ve had negative self-talk in your head for years. Now it’s time to insert some positive programming, okay?)
Your affirmations can be in regards to anything. Below are some affirmations to get you started.
1.) I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation and choose its contents.
2.) Today, I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy.
3.) My body is healthy; my mind is brilliant; my soul is tranquil.
4.) I am superior to negative thoughts and low actions.
5.) I have been given endless talents which I begin to utilize today.
6.) I forgive those who have harmed me in my past and peacefully detach from them.
7.) A river of compassion washes away my anger and replaces it with love.
8.) I am guided in my every step by Spirit who leads me towards what I must know and do.
9.) (If you’re married) My marriage is becoming stronger, deeper, and more stable each day.
10.) I possess the qualities needed to be extremely successful.
If you’ve never tried affirmations before, or even if you have, these are 10 really good ones to get you started. (Full credit given to Dr. Carmen Harra at The Huffington Post)
Read these affirmations in the morning, during our lunch, in the evening at dinner and just before you go to bed. But, here’s the elixir. You have to say your affirmations and FEEL the FEELINGS.
Step Two: Feel the feelings while saying your affirmations.
Feelings are things. Thoughts are things. And when you say your affirmations, you are developing FAITH in whatever area of life you’re working on.
If you’re struggling with money, write out affirmations about having money. If you’re struggling in your career, write affirmations about your career aspirations. And if you’re struggling in your family life, write affirmations about what you want your life to be like.
When you create affirmations, and read affirmations daily, weekly, monthly and so on…your mind (sub-conscious mind) believes it to be true and begins taking the steps needed to make the affirmations a reality.
It’s simple. It’s easy. But it requires discipline.
Think of your FAITH as a muscle. You won’t have six pack abs without a healthy diet and workout regimen. In like manner, you won’t have strong FAITH unless you feed your mind positive information and take action.
Step Three: Take Action!
You will increase your FAITH through practice. You will not increase your FAITH by simply reading about it. You can read about riding a bike all day long. But until you get on that thing and start peddling, you’ll never really get it. The same goes with FAITH.
Let’s take number 2 on the above list and work on that. Today, I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy. You can read that statement a bazillion times. But until you begin to act it out, it’ll never come to fruition.
In order to do that, simply act how you think people brimming with energy act. Walk around and feel the feelings of joy. Maybe model someone you know who embodies those qualities. Maybe even take that person to lunch and spend time with him or her.
I can’t tell you exactly what’ll work best for you and your situation. But I can tell you that your situation will not improve until YOU do.
Build your FAITH. Write out your affirmations. And most of all, ACT! Nothing happens until something moves.
You can do this. Start now.
